When we chose the title for this panel after a collection of topics at the general meeting in the fall of 2021 for the History of Sociology Section, hardly anyone would have thought that this complex of topics – Sociology in Cold War Times: Sociological Developments under Polarized Conditions – would become as relevant as it now unfortunately is. Of course, we would normally have associated a substantive introduction with the call at this point. In view of the current situation, however, we have decided to let the title speak for itself here.

We cordially invite you to submit meaningful proposals for papers in the field of sociology history on the topic of the title to n.holzhauser@tu-braunschweig.de, stephan.moebius@uni- grat.at, and morikawa@flet.keio.ac.jp by April 30 (maximum text length 250 words).
